In addition to the above TIS were contracted at the last moment by Fleet-Wide Systems IPT to upgrade the Flight Deck CCTV Surveillance System which was an original TIS design and fit. The improvement package was to manufacture and install replacement PTZ and fixed cameras capable of use in extreme conditions both day & night. TIS chose one of a range of Stainless Steel Housings and Pan & Tilt units which they had previously fitted on HMS Illustrious coupled with a very high resolution day/night camera and lens combination (TIS/DCAUL) to provide the clearest of video images down to 0.0015lx.

John Heath Engineering Manager for TIS Naval Systems commented that ‘the system fitted would give the ability to view a greater coverage of the flight deck and approaches for the ‘Flyco’ and the performance of the camera would give sharper detail in low-lighting operating conditions and would be viewable in most of these conditions in colour’. Both LT CDR (Flyco) and CDR (Air) were looking forward to putting the system through its paces on the ships’ forthcoming deployments.

TIS have supplied a Underwater Camera System for a leading UAE company specialising in Submersibles. The camera is mounted in the periscope of the craft and provides a 360 degree view via a continuous 360 pan mechanism. It features a complete P/T/Z camera with a range of operator functions coupled with a high resolution colour camera to provide clear sharp images from the sea-bed. It can operate satisfactorily down to 30 metres. Two on-board lights provide added illumination when zoomed in close.
